Spring Intersession Programs

The enduring partnership between Spring Forward and the Rock Island/Milan School District continues to make a remarkable impact this spring, offering over 100 students fresh, immersive, and inspiring ways to engage in hands-on learning through Spring Intersession programs.

From March 24th-28th, the Rock Island Center for Math and Science and Earl Hanson Elementary transformed into hubs of exploration and discovery.

Students chased their hoop dreams at Basketball Camp, increased swimming skills and water confidence with Swim lessons—both in partnership with Rock Island Parks and Recreation. They boldly faced fears to learn about fascinating bugs—including hissing cockroaches—through Curious by Nature at Hauberg Estate, Nahant Marsh, and the Putnam Museum.

The journey continued with students mastering new dance routines with Royal Drama Dance, diving into cultural exploration with the German American Heritage Center, marveling at puppet shows from Eulenspiegel Puppet Theater, and unleashing their artistic talents through Figge Art Museum-led projects and canvas painting sessions.

From creative expression to personal growth, the Spring Intersession programs sparked curiosity, courage, and connection. While photos can’t quite capture the transformative magic, they do tell a great story—especially if you’re not squeamish about cockroaches. Our students certainly weren’t!
