After School & Intersession Programs

Spring Forward after-school programs are held up to four days a week at six sites, serving elementary school students in the Rock Island-Milan School District. Activities include an after-school snack, homework help, instruction and enrichment and physical activity. We enroll students referred by teachers and focus on supporting struggling readers first through third grade.

Our staff includes certified teachers who provide literacy instruction. Other elements included homework help, STEM activities, and art projects led by staff and community enrichment partners.

Summer Enrichment Camp

Spring Forward, in partnership with the Rock Island-Milan School District, offered enrichment camps for elementary school students entering 1st through 6th grade at all nine elementary schools during June and July.

Spring Forward’s Monday – Thursday schedule included math and reading with teachers in the morning with additional support from Read United volunteers. Afternoons were filled with enrichment, sports and play and campers went on field trips every Friday. 28 community partners engaged with campers and 18 unique field trips were taken.

Summer camps are always provided at no cost to families thanks to generous support from people like you, The Doris and Victor Day Foundation and Rock Island-Milan School District.
