After School Programs

Spring Forward After School Program starts in September. Please check back for start dates.

After-School Program

Spring Forward Learning Center (SFLC) will serve over 500 students at four elementary schools and two junior high programs during the 2016-17 academic school year. Our purpose is to provide children with a safe, positive learning environment where they receive literacy instruction, homework help, and nourishment (snack and evening meal). SFLC sites include Frances Willard, Rock Island Academy, Thomas Jefferson and Center for Math and Science Elementary Schools and Edison and Washington Junior Highs.

Our programs continue to evolve thanks to the support of our community, which includes Rock Island-Milan District’s staff, our Board and dozens of community partners.
To ensure that we are reaching the students who are most in need, SFLC Staff works with teachers to identify students who best benefit from additional academic instruction. Once enrolled, staff customize a learning plan to meet individuals’ learning needs. In alignment with school district and community goals, Spring Forward targets enrollment for first through third grades with the objective of having all students read by third grade.

Spring Forward Learning Center shared Rock Island Public Library's photo. ... See MoreSee Less

Did you see this photo yesterday in The Dispatch/Rock Island Argus? Now, here's the rest of the story . . . This was a partnership between Rock Island Public Library and Spring Forward Learning Center, and was made possible by grant funding from the Rock Island Art Guild. The grant was initiated by the Rock Island Public Library, as part of our Summer Reading by Design program. Our thanks to instructor Gloria Burlingame, the students, Rock Island Art Guild, and our partner, Spring Forward, for helping support summer art and learning in Rock Island.
